About

To paraphrase the prophet Amos, I’m not a writer nor a son of a writer (Amos 7:14). But I want to give voice to impressions the Scripture makes on me as I walk the path of life, cf. Proverbs 10:17.

So I write this blog, illustrating my own steps along that path to the ultimate reality, “holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.” Philippians 2:16 John and cat with guitar This life, this world, what we see and hear, seems to indicate to most that there is nothing else. That this is the reality. This is all there is. But that is not true. There is another reality, an ultimate reality. And that is seen clearly in Scripture. So from the Word I write to the world to attempt to illuminate this more excellent way.

I’ve written a few web sites found at John J Schneider.com. Having survived the Sixties and Seventies I escaped the frozen Michigan tundra at the end of the last century and now reside in Savannah Georgia with my artist wife Melissa of a few decades and our 3 amazing cats, and dream of retirement in the Caribbean.

The photo on top of this site was shot by Melissa in 2010 and is the entrance driveway to the Tomotley Plantation near Beaufort, South Carolina showing the rows of beautiful, old Angel Oak trees.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I immediately followed the link to yours and your thoughts on Christ’s relationship to the Father by Torrey. That has come up time and time again in my classes, especially with Muslims. I will download Torrey’s book and see if I can find in it a way to get these tricky distinctions across, given the limitations in my classroom.

I love Melissa’s photo! Spectacular! Give her my greetings.

  2. Hi Anne:

I’d be pleased if, when you research the topic you mention, that you comment on the Torrey post. Maybe we can get some stimulating and edifying discussion going. I’d appreciate any thoughts you might have.

I look forward to more of your own writing at your blog http://graceandpromise.wordpress.com/
